Malta Opportunities, Inc. (MOI) provides programs designed to meet the needs of adults who are developmentally disabled in areas of vocational, residential, education and social skills in the most normalizing and least restrictive environment possible, allowing our clients the right to contribute to their community.
We are a local, private non-profit corporation funded to assist adult individuals with developmental disabilities. MOI was developed by a concerned group of parents, families, citizens and professionals to meet five basic needs.
To provide functional training in non-residential settings, based on the individual plans of each client.
To provide a continuum of living arrangements to meet the needs of our clients and to facilitate their integration into community life, while ensuring their health safety and well being.
To provide training to ensure each individual receives habilitation services designed to enhance the independence of the individual.
To provide transportation to work, medical appointments, recreation and social outings.
To ensure clients the same community settings available to all citizens and provide sufficient community support so that no one should have to leave the area to receive needed individualized services.

STRUCTURE
MOI is a 501c3 organization. The Board of Directors is the corporate entity that holds the ultimate responsibility for the business and services of MOI. Board members are unpaid volunteers. In order to carry out the business of MOI, the Board hires and supervises an Executive Director with authority and responsibility to see MOI's purpose, policies and goals are followed.
Standards
We recognize that services to persons who are developmentally disabled are based on humanitarian and democratic ideals.
We are dedicated to the principle of enabling our clients to live a normal and dignified a life as possible.
We shall provide individual services and public trust that require integrity, compassion, respect for individual differences, a commitment to accountability, a sense of dedication to he task, and a belief in the dignity and worth of human beings.
We regard it as our primary obligation to respect the right and welfare of the individual served.
We shall respect the privacy of the people we serve.
We are concerned with providing services consistent with the dignity of the individual, a quality of care consistent with the principles of humanity, understanding and compassion and a program designed to their optimum growth and development.
We shall not discriminate because of race, color, religion, age, sex, ethnicity or disability.
We shall assist in helping to protect the community and the individual against unethical or inappropriate practices and action by any other individual or organization.
