Our Business and What We Accept
Malta Opportunities operates a Thrift Store located at 11 S. 3rd St. E. in Malta, Montana. It is open Monday-Friday from 10am-3pm or by appointment.
Our store is run by and for the benefit of our Consumers. 100% of proceeds stay with Malta Opportunities. Our hours reflect the times our Consumers are working.
We proudly accept donations of clothing, kitchenware, books, toys, sporting goods, shoes, small appliances, home decor, garden items, jewelry/accessories, and small electronics.
MOI does NOT accept donations of: large household appliances, gas appliances, propane tanks, construction/remodeling debris, large console TVs, automobile parts, paint or chemicals of any kind, mattresses, box springs, firearms, or flammable materials.
Should I Donate This?
Before you make any donation, please do consider the state of the item. MOI cannot safely accept items that are broken, missing parts/pieces, recalled, food/drink, household cleaners, frayed wires/cords or items that are not in working order. If it is not something that you would confidently put in a yard sale, likely we will not be able to safely sell it either. If you need assistance with disposing of items, please contact the City of Malta or Phillips County to assist you with the proper destruction.
A Note On Tax Receipts
Malta Opportunities employees cannot determine the value of your items. The IRS requires that the donor value their items. It is your responsibility, if you are planning to seek a tax deduction, to total up your donation’s fair market value.
Malta Opportunities employees can provide a general receipt of donation, upon request, that dates when the donation was received.
The Valuation Guide, attached here as a pdf can assist you with determining the value of your donations. Please feel free to print off a copy.
